What do you do at NDSC?
I’m a Safety Consultant. I have a passion for teaching people how to be safe and efficient at their jobs. I’m a creative problem solver and excel at thinking outside of the box. I see every problem as a challenge, and really enjoy bringing creative solutions to the table. I don’t like to bring up issues that I see unless I have a solution. I enjoy learning new techniques and believe that technology will play a huge role in reaching the next generation of employees.

Why is NDSC’s mission to prevent injuries and save lives important to you?
In the years that I’ve been involved in the oilfield industry, I’ve recognized that training has been a challenge. Often times, there is a “check the box” mentality and approach. I have known of the NDSC for many years and have always referred to them as the GOLD STANDARD. When they were able to develop and implement One Basin-One Way, I was very impressed with their vision and emphasis on efficiency. I’m excited to be able to bring my vision of utilizing 3d imagery, drone technology and video tutorials to enhance the training capabilities of our partners in the patch. By taking a site/equipment/task specific approach to training geared towards familiarity and repetition, I hope to provide NDSC with a training advantage over our competitors.

What are your hobbies?
I’m excited about anything that includes water activities. I love to fish, swim and just be around lakes and rivers. My wife first captured my heart when she asked me to take her fishing. I knew that she was the one!

Favorite singer/band?
I grew up listening to grunge in the ’90’s. My favorite bands included Sound Garden, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam. My all-time favorite band would be Blind Melon with lead vocalist, Shannon Hoon. I’ve always said that “Change” will be played at my funeral.

Biggest pet peeve?
I’m a bit of an introvert, and really enjoy silence so that I can concentrate on the thoughts racing through my mind. I have a hard time being around people who feel the need to talk for the sake of talking.

Biggest fear in life?
That my children don’t understand the depths of my love for them. I tell them every day so that doesn’t happen.

Name something interesting about yourself.
I love to watch world economies and economic data with a focus on commodities, especially precious metals. Recently, I can’t get enough of the development of the BRICS nations and how they will compete with the U.S. Dollar. It fascinating to me how the world’s homogony is shifting from the petrodollar back to commodities like gold, silver and copper.

Your biggest strength/weakness?
My biggest strength is my ability to recognize inefficiencies and develop systems that are simple yet effective to combat the unnecessary redundancies and streamline processes.

My biggest weakness is trying to explain the concept to those who are unable to see the challenge to begin with. Patience is not my virtue at times, and something that I struggle with.
