Several New Courses at NDSC
The North Dakota Safety Council is excited to have three new training options this spring. Staying on the cutting edge of what businesses need while promoting safer workplaces, homes and communities remain central to the NDSC’s mission.
Slip Simulator™:
You can now take a course on our specialized Slip Simulator™. The NDSC campus is equipped with the Slip Simulator™ that’s proven to reduce slips, trips and falls incidents by 70%. It uses a safe and controlled environment that teaches you to walk on a surface more slippery than ice. The North Dakota Safety Council sees the prevalence of falls in our workplace and homes and has found a real-world safety solution that pairs with our expert training. Slips, trips and falls are costly for employers, but they can also be deadly. Since 1999 deaths from falls have increased by 233%. With the Slip Simulator™ not only do you learn proper slippery surface walking techniques firsthand, but you have a fun and engaging learning experience that ensures you remember it. This course is great for team building as well as an opportunity to learn and retain knowledge. More Information
Fit Testing:
Proper fit for respirators and face masks can have both a short-term and long-term impact on someone’s health. The North Dakota Safety Council is now expanding our expert training into quantitative testing. Over 3 million employees are required to wear respirators in the U.S. according to NIOSH. OSHA requires respirator users to be fit tested to confirm a tight seal before using it in the workplace. The North Dakota Safety Council is always working for safer workplaces, and Fit testing is a requirement we’re here to help with. NDSC trainers can go on location for large group fittings, or individual fittings can be done at the NDSC campus. We provide you with the OSHA Approved Medical Questionnaire for you to complete at home or work prior to your test, making the process efficient and easy. More Information
CDL Courses:
New Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) required by the FMCSA, mean more training for those looking to become CDL certification holders. The North Dakota Safety Council is here to offer theory and
knowledge courses for businesses. Heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers are projected to have more than 200 thousand openings each year for the next 10 years by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, growing 6%. However, an even greater need will be felt for passenger vehicle drivers, which is expected to grow 25% in the next decade. As the need for CDL holders continues to rise, NDSC will help meet the need by offering Class A and Class B theory courses. You can also take the ELDT online courses, as well as Hazardous Materials, Passenger and School Bus endorsements through the NDSC. Our goal is to put highly-trained, safe drivers on roads, and it’s important to our ongoing mission of preventing injuries and saving lives. More Information
