As families head to the lake, the backyard or the badlands this summer, a campfire may be tempting, but it isn’t worth the risk. North Dakota’s drought continues, and fire danger remains high. While campers may miss those traditional fire blackened, ash-flavored marshmallows, campers can find lots of fun without the fire.
Longtime Assistant Executive Director, Lynae Hanson, retired in April from the North Dakota Safety Council. After the announcement of her retirement, we hired two new positions and promoted a few staff members.
ND Sober Ride, a Vision Zero program aimed at reducing the number of impaired drivers on North Dakota roadways through ride-hailing vouchers, provided 800 Lyft rides in March.

The NDSC has been awarded an OSHA Susan Harwood Curriculum Development Grant to develop an agricultural safety course targeted to employers who perform agricultural operations, with a focus on youth employees, those new to farming and other small businesses in the agricultural industry.
Law enforcement across the state will conduct compliance checks and shoulder taps from April 1 to May 23 in an effort to prevent life altering consequences caused by consuming alcohol underage. This enforcement campaign is a vital part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate motor vehicle crash fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.
